Ancillary Services: How to Write a Commercial Inspection Report
As inspectors, our job is to observe, analyze, and clarify. In this class, we'll investigate how each step leads to inspection integrity, brand excellence, and happy clients. Both CCPIA and ASTM standards will show us how to study, assess, and write in ways that help clients and ourselves. While specific narrative help will be provided, we’ll spend the majority of the time considering the theory behind writing excellent commercial reports.

Advanced Inspections: EIFS, Stucco, MSV & Water Intrusion
In this class, the inspector will learn about the similarities and differences between EIFS, stucco, and adhered manufactured stone veneer. By the end, the inspector should be able to accurately identify whether the wall cladding is a type of EIFS or stucco. We'll also go over the common locations to look for installation errors, and illustrate the damage those errors may cause.

Ancillary Services: Introduction to Sewer Scopes
Learn how to make more profit per inspection by adding this ancillary inspection. This class is designed to show home inspectors the profit potential of adding sewer scoping to their ancillary services. It will give them a general idea of what a sewer scope inspection consists of, what the inspector should look for, and a basic understanding of sewer line materials and the common defects associated with different types of sewer lines. We’ll also discuss what to look for in a camera system.

Advanced Inspections: 2022 Energy Code: What's New for Low-rise Residential Buildings
This class will provide an overview of the updates to the 2022 Energy Code for low-rise residential new-construction buildings, as well as additions and alterations to existing low-rise residential buildings. Topics will include new requirements for photovoltaic systems, expanded requirements for high-performance attics and walls, as well as indoor air quality, new options for water heaters, and more.

Ancillary Services: Chasing Water Using Thermal Imaging
Water is one of the most destructive elements and is often difficult to identify when it comes to locating the root cause in a house. United Infrared has been chasing water for years using thermal imaging, which is a very effective technology for mapping moisture paths in a completely non-destructive manner. Thermal imaging provides immediate visual results, which can often expose the actual source. The goal of this presentation is to help inspectors discover ways that infrared technology can be used to detect moisture intrusion in homes.

Advanced Inspections: Hurricanes Destroy, But Only If We Let Them
“Hurricanes Destroy, But Only If We Let Them" will feature photos taken the morning after Hurricane Michael in Mexico Beach, Florida. Discussion will center on different types of structural failures and how better inspection procedures could have saved numerous types of structures. Additional training will be presented regarding how to categorize existing structures, how to evaluate cracks in structures, how to properly read product approvals, and other items to ensure hurricane resilience.

Business & Marketing: Introduction to QuickBooks® for Inspectors
This class is designed to give inspectors everything they need to begin using QuickBooks® as a tool to monitor the income and expenses for their home inspection business.
We’ll cover initial company settings and best practices, establish a chart of accounts, add items and services, create invoices, process billing, add vendors, write checks, collect and post check and credit card payments, and reconcile the accounts each month. We’ll briefly discuss some basic reports you should be familiar with. We will also cover best practices for integrating QuickBooks® with ISN. Although this class will specifically cover QB Online, its principles and sample chart of accounts can be applied to the desktop version of QuickBooks®. A sample chart of accounts for home inspectors will be provided. QB Online Essentials will be used for teaching purposes. |
Ancilliary Services: Basic Pool Inspections
We'll teach you what a pool is and its required components. We'll show you what to look for at the pump, filter, and heater. Are plaster, tile, coping, and decking really necessary? We'll explain why. Learn the causes of defects of a pool's different parts, and the best options for repair.

Ancillary Services: Using Thermal Imaging for Energy Audits
This workshop will present information on the optimal conditions needed to effectively use an infrared camera to evaluate the building envelope to determine insulation performance. We will also demonstrate how an infrared camera can be used to identify air infiltration and exfiltration points. We’ll also discuss minimum camera requirements, and show examples of why some infrared cameras are not suited for use for energy audits or home inspections.

Advanced Inspections: Advanced Air Conditioning
This class covers the different options for testing air conditioning systems during a home inspection, as well as the science behind the refrigeration cycle, how to determine the proper wire and breaker sizes, and what causes air conditioning systems to fail. The history of air conditioning and its early uses will also be reviewed.

Business & Marketing: Dealing with Local Building Departments & Becoming ICC-Certified
Performing home inspections on new construction when local building departments are also involved can sometimes get contentious for both parties. This course will help you understand their purpose and objectives, and how to help your clients understand the differences between their job and yours.
We will also discuss the importance of becoming ICC-certified. Many states license building (code) inspectors differently than they do home inspectors. |

Advanced Inspections: Advanced HVAC Inspection
In this class, we’ll look “behind the curtain” into the science of some of the codes and rules related to HVAC. We’ll explore the history of why and how the combustion air requirements matter. We’ll take a dive into the deep blue of a flame. You never see scorch marks around a furnace flue, so is the 1-inch clearance really a big deal? What does the PVC/ABS debate for exhaust flues mean for high-efficiency condensing appliances? What is a condensate neutralizer, and why does it matter? We’ll discuss the reasons for the most common problems we see with HVAC systems, and try to have fun with all of it.

This class will cover the telltale signs of problems with venting gas-fired furnaces and central air conditioners that could affect their efficient operation, such as leaking ductwork, and missing or damaged insulation on the AC's suction lines.
